Cardboard Construct-a-thon Rules and Guidelines:

Submissions must be turned in by Friday, March 29th by 5 pm. You will be able to turn in your creations starting March 25th.

  • No registration is required.
  • Entries must be built ahead of time. You can pick up cardboard at the library or use your own.
  • One entry per person, though an entry may consist of several pieces in a setting or one single piece.
  • Your cardboard creation cannot be larger than 36”x36”x36”.
  • Creations must be made entirely of cardboard. Tape, glue, paperclips or brads may be used to hold pieces together.
  • Entries must be your own creation, not a kit or other pre-built structure.
  • All entries must be built by whose name appears on the registration.
  • You must be able to carry your design in and out of the building without help of library staff.
  • While you are welcome to decorate your creation, please remember that entries will be judged more heavily on construction than on decoration.
  • Be creative!

Entries will be judged on the following criteria:

  • General appearance and design
  • Creativity
  • Degree of difficulty

Prizes will be awarded for each of five age categories: preschool, ages 5-7, ages 8-11, ages 12-17, adult 18-up.  One prize will also be awarded for the Judges’ Choice, and one for the best fit to the theme.  The Awards will be announced March 26th, at 12:15 pm and you will then be able to take home your Cardboard creations.
