LGBTQ Youth Support Group (Ages 16-Young Adult)
December 2, 2019 –
LGBTQ rights have come a long way. Yet social stigma, bullying, violence, hate crimes and discrimination continue to negatively affect this group too often. These factors compound the difficulties and fears already involved in the coming out process and can contribute to psychological adjustment problems of varying degrees.
The purpose of this group is to provide a safe and confidential place of support for the unique concerns of LGBTQ youth. Attendees gather to discuss and listen to others’ unique experiences, questions, fears and ways of coping in this challenging world.
The group begins on August 5th, 2019 (4:00 pm – 5:30 pm) and will convene the first Monday of every month.
The group welcomes youth who identify as Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender or Questioning and are at least 16 years old. The age range is 16 to young adults (twenties).
The group is free of charge and it is facilitated by Ana M. Sancho Sama, Ph.D., Licensed Psychologist. You can visit her at Psychology Today https://www.psychologytoday.com/us/therapists/ana-m-sancho-sama-pagosa-springs-co/393204 for more information.
