This position is responsible for the online creation of original and adaptive Library of Congress and Enhanced MARC cataloging records for books and media.
Maintains bibliographic records in the Integrated Library System (ILS) shared by members of the AspenCat Library Consortium. Catalogs library materials according to current standards and rules to ensure library customers and staff are able to efficiently locate materials. Classifies library materials and keeps database records up-to-date and accurate. Works closely with Colorado Library Consortium to ensure bibliographic record accuracy and to resolve database and access issues. Works independently under general supervision.
Imports bibliographic records from an external database of bibliographic records to internal library database. Researches records and makes updates as needed. Creates original records as required.
Provides exemplary customer service while working at checkout desk or as backup. Assists patrons with technology and computer questions, locating materials and general library use.
Shelf reads assigned section to ensure items are shelved correctly.

Functional knowledge of public library organizations and collections; Library of Congress Subject Headings; Machine Readable Cataloging Records (MARC); Dewey Decimal Classification system; Online Computer Library Center (OCLC); database fundamentals, MS Excel and PC skills.
Skilled in technology software and able to troubleshoot.
