Library Cards

May contain: body part, hand, and person

Getting a library card

To check out library materials and use library computers, permanent and part-time residents can apply for a library card by showing a government issued photo ID and proof of their mailing address. Visitors that wish to make use of library materials and services can apply for a visitor card.

Library card applications must be done at the library.  Completed applications will be processed within 1 day and the library card will be mailed to the patron’s mailing address, unless proof of mailing is provided, in which the patron will receive his/her card on the spot.  If a new patron does not have proof of address, he/she may check out 1 item and/or receive a guest pass for using the computers.  Once the library card is received, (either the day of signing up or once it is received in the mail) the patron follows the new patron procedures.

New patrons are limited to borrowing 10 items at time.  After 3 months, permanent and part-time resident cardholders can check out up to 50 library items (DVD limit=7) for 3 weeks at a time.  Patrons must present their physical library card or photo ID to check out library materials.

A parent or guardian must sign for a child.

Replacement cards are $2.

Getting a Visitor Card

Temporary guests in the Pagosa Springs area can apply for a visitor card.  Visitor cards are issued at the time of application and expire after 3 months, or at a time determined by length of stay. Visitors can check out up to 5 items at a time.  Visiting patrons must present their physical library card photo ID to check out library materials.   Visitors do not have access to the statewide SWIFT interlibrary loan service.

Getting a Guest Pass

Guests of any age can request a guest pass at the checkout desk.  A guest pass allows a daily session (1 hour) of library computer use. If there is no one waiting on a computer, this time can be extended.

No library card?  No ID?  No problem!

We offer guest passes for those people who need to access the internet or may have forgotten their card.
